Sorry, we're new at this blogging thing, so we're redoing yesterday's post.
All the campers arrived safely at Deerpath Lodge, some on time (some a little late...jill and ed), around 2 p.m. After a tent pitching session, we ate some ice cream sandwiches and played capture the flag to break a few ices. The "Western Meadowlark" team beat the "Oregon Grapes" 2-0, best 2 out of 3. Did you see that daring leap of Michael's?
So far, everyone's excited about the views--yes, plural. The land is beautiful on all four sides, and our tents face out over the hill so we can wake up to see the valley filled with trees. Maybe we'll see some deer.
We were all filled to the gills after the welcome dinner--spaghetti, veggies, and tiramisu, accompanied by rum and cokes. Or is it rums and cokes? Our campers managed to keep their eyes open long enough for a sing-along around the campfire in the evening, though. Oh, and about the campfire, let's just say we're a little disappointed because it is a make-believe fire. The fire pit is there, sure enough, but no fire. It is illegal to have an open fire in this area at this time of year. Crap. Anyway, this is going to be an awesome week.
